Scraproom Remodel Continues

Okay, when we last posted -- we were hoping for a magic third coat of the wine-red color to finish up the wall. Unfortunately we actually needed 5 coats to get the wall finished!!! (* gasp *) The fourth coat was finally opaque enough, but we could still see the brush roller marks. So Kenny and I tag teamed it with two rollers so we could paint it faster to hopefully eliminate that problem. (When I say tag teamed it, my simple contribution was to load up the second roller so it was ready to go ASAP, not as strenuous as it originally sounds! HA!) And viola, it worked!

The wine red wall is officially finished! After moving many things back into the office and getting things arranged, I had high hopes of working on the organizational part this past Sunday. No such luck! (* sigh *) First I had a low energy day, so I was really not all that much help -- I was just getting through. Second... somehow my plan of continuing to organize the office transformed into cleaning the laundry room. I have to say, definitely not so exciting. But I think in order to figure out the best way to organize everything on this level, it had to be done. Best of all, I can now easily do laundry without doing any acrobatics (always a good thing).

Here are a couple of pictures of our newly cleaned and organized laundry room. With my lack of energy, the kids lack of enthusiasm... it is most entirely due to Kenny's effort that it has been done at all! :-)

I wish I could say that we moved on to the scrapbook room next, but alas, it was not to be this past weekend. I was literally exhausted and done for the day, while Kenny had to go out of town for a bit. So there is still a lot of organization that needs done here, but I'm S L O W L Y getting to things. Here are a few updated photos:

The new arrangement just seems so much roomier, and the new shelving units have added a lot more storage options. I just need to find the time and energy to keep going through things and continue to organize. But hopefully, I'm getting much closer to actually posting artwork instead of remodeling pictures! :-)

Scrap Room Remodel

So it begins… my purging and cleaning urge has been leading up to something -- a scrap room remodel! We’re doing a reorganization and a slight remodel of my scrap area while trying to keep it as inexpensive as possible. Poor Kenny has to do the majority of the work, as I have to be careful with my oxygen level with exertion. :-) He’s been very patient with me!!! We’re trying to keep it moving as quickly as possible, because the downstairs bathroom is now a storage area (unusable) and the laundry room is almost just as bad (can JUST BARELY squeeze my way to the washer/dryer). Here’s a few pics so far:

The wall with the windows will become an accent wall w/color – a deep red, wine color. Kenny is putting on a grey primer here which is supposed to help the darker paint go on well (see the lovely mess everywhere!!! UGH!!!)

Then while the primer was drying, we started putting together the new shelving units which will hopefully store A LOT of supplies hopefully eliminating what seems to be the perpetual clutter, at least that’s the plan.

It was quite the tight fit, but they are up and ready to be filled now. The problem is I’m not sure what of my stuff I can easily get to now to start filling them up!

We now have 2 coats of paint on the wall, it is starting to look better (that first coat of paint was scary!). Kenny is hoping we can be done in three coats, but I’m thinking four may be the magic number. We’ll see.

Obviously, things are quite disorganized and hard to work right now here. Once the wine red wall is finished, then we can start putting things BACK where they belong and get to sharing art instead of remodeling pictures! More to come!

My first posting!!!

I am excited to start up a blog for Close to My Heart where I can share art with everyone. I've been wanting to do one for a while, and with starting our family website - we were able to create one. I am currently getting an 'Extreme Makeover' in my scrap room. I won't be able to share art for a few days, but I'll try to get pictures of the 'work in progress' up this week! More to come soon.
